University of Twente

The University of Twente (UT) is a research university that focuses on technological developments in a social context within an active knowledge economy. This focus is reflected in 22 bachelor's and 31 master's programs in the fields of engineering, social and behavioural sciences. Students are challenged to look beyond their field's borders and to interact with other disciplines. This multidisciplinary approach stimulates innovation in science and society. Currently 5,500 bachelor's and 2,500 master's students study at the University of Twente. It is the only campus university in the Netherlands.

The University of Twente is the entrepreneurial research university in the Netherlands and aims to support and provide technological development and management in our knowledge society. The University of Twente is unique in its excellence in education and research, its engineering approach to solving problems in society and industry, and combining of technological and social disciplines. The University of Twente has a matrix organization: faculties manage educational programmes, and research institutes manage the multidisciplinary research programmes. The bridges between education and research and "real life" are Kennispark and de Wetenschapswinkel (Science Shop). The university works together with other universities, commercial enterprises, and government and public organizations. All networks that aim for innovation and social progress.

The University of Twente is part of the 3TU.Federation and works cooperatively with Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology. The University of Twente is also a member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities.
