Route description

The University of Twente is located in the East of the Netherlands between the cities of Enschede and Hengelo. The ITC faculty is located in the city centre of Enschede. For a route description to the ITC click here.

If you are arriving in the weekend before the Kick-In introduction period, you might be able to apply for the pick-up service by ESN Twente. Please find more information about this service by clicking here.

By car

From the A1 motorway, take the A35 motorway towards Enschede. Then take exit no. 26 Enschede West/Universiteit. Follow the signs Universiteit.

By plane

If you come by plane, usually you fly into Schiphol airport, the largest airport in the Netherlands, close to Amsterdam. You will then have to travel by train to Enschede, the trains leave from the airport. There is an intercity train once every hour that goes straight to Enschede. The trip from Schiphol to Enschede takes about two and half hours.
If you fly into Eindhoven airport, you will have to take bus 401 to Eindhoven train station first and then travel by train to Enschede. There is no direct train from Eindhoven to Enschede. This trip will take about three hours.
If you fly into Düsseldorf airport, you should also take a train from the airport to Enschede. There is no direct train from Düsseldorf to Enschede. This trip will take about three hours.
 

By train

Take a train to Enschede, Enschede Drienerlo or Hengelo. You can plan your train journey here: NS train journey planner. If you are traveling from Germany, you can plan your train journey here: DB train journey planner.

Option 1, to Enschede train station: When you arrive at the train station in Enschede, take bus line 1 to 'Universiteit Twente'. There are several bus stops on the campus. You can also take bus 9 to 'Hengelo' and embark at the stop in front of the campus entrance, called 'Viaduct'.
Option 2, to Enschede Drienerlo train station: Take the train to Hengelo train station. Travel further with a regional (stop) train to station Enschede Drienerlo. This station is located at walking distance of the University of Twente main entrance (about 1 km). From the exit of this train station walk up the stairs or slope and turn right at the first road on the right side, at the end you should already see a roundabout with artwork of little cars. At this roundabout turn left, you should already be able to see the entrance of the University of Twente in the distance. Instead of walking you can also take bus line 1 to 'Universiteit Twente' and embark at one of the stops on the campus.
Option 3, to Hengelo: When you arrive at the train station in Hengelo, take bus line 9 to 'Enschede'. This bus will stop in front of the campus entrance, at a stop called 'Viaduct'.

By bus

Option 1, from Enschede train station: take bus 1 to 'Universiteit' and embark at one of the stops on the campus. You can also take bus 9 to 'Hengelo' and embark at the stop in front of the campus entrance, called 'Viaduct'.
Option 2, from Enschede Drienerlo train station: take bus line 1 to 'Universiteit Twente' and embark at one of the stops on the campus.
Option 3, from Hengelo train station: take bus 9 to 'Enschede' and embark at the stop in front of the campus entrance, called 'Viaduct'.
