The Foundation Erasmus Student Network Twente emerged as Student Mobility in Twente (SMIT) in June of 1991 from an advisory board of several internationally-oriented student organizations belonging to the University of Twente. The goal of the foundation is to improve the international student mobility, by coordinating the reception and escort of all international students at the university.
ESN Twente will try to make sure you have the time of your life here at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. We make information available about the life here in Enschede and couple you with a mentor to help find your way around.
Your mentor is a student who will guide you during your first days in Enschede, the Kick-In introduction and orientation period. Your mentor's first task is to bring you to your room after your arrival in Enschede. Furthermore he/she will show you the campus of the University of Twente and will assist you when arranging the necessary formalities. And of course, your mentor will help you to buy the most important means of transportation in the Netherlands: a bike. Your mentor is there for you, so if you have problems or questions, just ask him/her, and most probably you will be able to solve them together!
Once you've settled in, you can enjoy the activities ESN Twente organises for you. This is a great way to meet other international and (of course) Dutch students. Every week there is a ESN Twente Weekly Drink at the Vestingbar and once a month a theme party in the city centre. Besides that, we will make sure that you will not get bored, so we will organise activities like ice-skating, dance workshops and city trips. Every week you can play Weekly Soccer with us and if you are interested in making international friends while learning something new, you can join the Language Exchange Programme, to teach another student your language and the other way around!
So just check our website for our activities and if you have questions or if you just feel like chatting with one of the board members, come by the ESN Twente Office, every weekday at lunch time (12.35-13.35) and on Wednesday between 15.00 and 16.00.
ESN Twente is a member of Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Most of student cities in the Netherlands and Europe have an ESN-section. Together, they take care of the mobility of the international students in the Netherlands and Europe. With your ESNCard you can also join activities of all other ESN sections. So feel free to join and help out your home section of ESN when you are back home again!
